Jim Baxter – Executive Producer
Creator of Becoming California and co-founder of the California Environmental Legacy Project, Jim Baxter has long been an outdoor enthusiast and advocate for our natural environment. A professor of biology at Sacramento State University, he has over 20 years of experience as a scientist and educator, with expertise in biological diversity, human impacts on ecological systems, and the role of educational media on environmental understanding. He has a B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an M.A. in Ecology and Systematic Biology from San Francisco State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution from Rutgers University.

Jeffrey White - Executive Producer
Co-creator of Becoming California and co-founder of the California Environmental Legacy Project, Jeffrey White’s career in teaching and learning about the natural sciences was deepened by work in Brazil conducting ecology studies and surveying human impacts on rainforest systems. He has taught in California public schools and is currently a biology professor at Humboldt State University. He is also Co-founder and Executive Director of the Redwood Science Project, a natural science education institute. With a B.A. in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, he earned a teaching certificate from California State University, Los Angeles and his Ph.D. in Botany from Michigan State University.
 
Jeffrey White
Pat Metheny - Jazz Musician / Composer
Award winning jazz guitarist Pat Metheny’s body of work includes compositions for solo guitar, small ensembles, electric and acoustic instruments, large orchestras, and ballet pieces, with settings ranging from contemporary jazz to rock to classical. Pat Metheny has won an extraordinary 18 Grammy Awards and has been nominated 33 times in 12 different categories, more than any other performer in Grammy history. Aside from critics’ awards and fan accolades, Pat’s focus remains continually on the breaking down of barriers and the exploration of new musical ideas.

Kit Tyler - Producer
Producer, director, and award-winning photographer, Kit Tyler’s career spans more than 25 years of stage, film, and broadcast experience. He has held positions as director, evening news producer, and chief photographer for large-market television stations in California and worked for every major television network, including The Discovery Channel. Kit has won three Bay Area Emmys in addition to a host of other regional and national honors. He is a graduate of Wesleyan University.

David Scheerer - Producer
David Scheerer is an independent filmmaker and professor of film production at Humboldt State University. He has directed and produced award-winning feature films and documentaries that have aired in all the world’s principal broadcast venues. Heco-founded and was director of Montana State University’s MFA in Science and Natural History Filmmaking before moving to California in 2006. His films have attracted major financial support from private and public funding organizations like the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the National Science Foundation, PBS, and The Discovery Channel. He earned his MFA in Screenwriting in 1986 from Brigham Young University.
 
David Scheerer
Richard Tsai - Art Director / Animator
Richard Tsai is principal owner of Field of Vision, a design visualization firm based in San Francisco. He has 12 years of experience producing highly crafted computer-generated models, visual simulations, and animations for a wide range of projects. Prior to forming Field of Vision, he was a visual simulation specialist at BRW Inc., focusing on simulations and animations for major transportation planning projects. He continued his simulation work at EDAW Inc., where he founded and led the Design Visualization Group serving EDAW’s entire Western region.
